GlaxoSmithKline’s Philip Leslie has been inducted into the Honour Roll at the 2017 Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

Member for Eastern Metropolitan Region Shaun Leane today congratulated Mr Leslie on his work to drive innovation in advanced manufacturing.

Philip Leslie has been with GSK for 26 years in various leadership roles in one of Australia’s largest pharmaceutical and healthcare product manufacturing facilities.

During that time he has been instrumental in pioneering new techniques and evolving the company’s Boronia facility.

As Technical Lead at GSK, Philip’s role includes supporting the Boronia teams with product and process improvements.

His technical team has progressed innovation in Blow-Fill-Seal technology to manufacture products such as vaccines in new ways, with the aim of reducing costs, increasing supply and extending access in least developed countries.

A passionate advocate of continuous development for both students and colleagues, Philip is known for taking time to explain the intricacies of manufacturing processes and inspiring new ways of thinking.

Philip was instrumental in forming a unique collaboration with Monash University, helping over 85 students gain real world experience.

The Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards, which were established in 2001, recognise individuals and companies who embrace new technologies and manufacturing techniques, are export focused and excel in business innovation.

Victoria’s world-class manufacturing industry contributes around $26 billion to the State’s economy each year and employs more than 270,000 people.

Through the Future Industries Fund, the Andrews Labor Government is working hard to create jobs and support high growth industries.
