Ringwood Little Athletics Centre, Ringwood Athletic Club and Ringwood Professional Athletics Club were quick off the blocks today on the new Tony Lethbridge Pavilion and athletics facilities launch at Proclamation Park.

Member for Eastern Metropolitan Region Shaun Leane joined Maroondah City Council Mayor Cr Tony Dib JP to officially open the new $2.86 million Athletics Field, complete with a new pavilion.

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with building modern sporting facilities across the state to give all Victorians more opportunities to be active in their own backyard.

The new modern synthetic track is durable, all-weather and built for comfort and speed.

It will ensure that local clubs like Ringwood Athletics Club, Ringwood Little Athletics Centre and the Ringwood Triathlon Club continue to nurture a new generation of athletes.

The new pavilion is set to open more doors for local participation with new female-friendly change rooms, accessible amenities, a gymnasium, canteen and a community meeting space.

Together, the new facilities give local athletics and other sports more opportunity to train and stage bigger and better events including regional meets and competitions.

The Labor Government invested $650,000 to the project, which was a partnership with the Maroondah City Council who provided $2.1 million, along with $100,000 of community contributions.

The 2016/17 Victorian Budget also delivered a further $60 million boost to build new and upgrade sporting facilities across the state and keep our reputation as the nation’s sporting capital.
