Motorists in the city’s east will soon enjoy smoother, safer journeys thanks to essential road maintenance in Blackburn South.

Member for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Shaun Leane said the works are underway to resurface sections of Canterbury Road and Blackburn Road to ensure these busy routes remain robust and reliable for all drivers.

Works are already complete on one section of Canterbury Road outbound between Sheehans Road and Blackburn Road.

Throughout June, crews will continue on site at night from Sunday to Thursday between 8:00pm and 5:00am to minimise disruptions to traffic.

There are staged road closures on Blackburn Road and Canterbury Road, with signed detours in place.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journey and allow extra travel time to reach their destination and reminded to drive to the reduced speed limit in place around the work zone.
