Jubilee Park in Ringwood will share in the biggest investment in women’s and community sport in Victoria’s history thanks to the Andrews Labor Government, with a substantial extension and upgrade to the Pavilion overlooking the Russell Lucas Oval.

The Andrews Labor Government will contribute $ 2 million towards the Maroondah City Council’s upgrade of the pavilion, including two new change rooms, refurbishment of the existing change rooms, umpires rooms and a new first aid rooms, providing first class facilities for players and spectators.

The facility is home to the Ringwood Cricket Club, Ringwood Football Club, and the Ringwood Spiders All Abilities Sports Club and is the premier cricket ground in the region. The project will see a first floor extension will be added to the pavilion with designated office space for each of the three clubs and for Cricket Victoria’s Eastern Metro Zone headquarters

The funding will be provided through a $60 million Community Sports Fund announced by the Labor Government as part of a $241.7 million boost for women’s and community sport in the Victorian Budget 2018/19.

The investment includes well over $100 million to improve facilities for women’s sport including:

  • $67 million for elite women’s facilities, including a $20 million to redevelop Ikon Park into the home of AFLW
  • a $64.6 million redevelopment of the State Hockey and Netball Centre
  • a $15 million boost for the Female Friendly Facilities Fund

The Victorian Budget will also provide $5 million for Community Sports Infrastructure Loans that will unlock up to $100 million for local clubs to upgrade their facilities.
